How does the auto lock on the ipod touch work?

I have the auto lock set to 2 minutes. Is it supposed to shut off automatically or do you do it?

It will go to sleep and when you hit the home button, you will get that bar that you slid to unlock it. ▒❤°·‚◊◊βʀɛaƙiɳg Dawɳ ◊◊‚·°❤▒
When the iPod remains untouched after 2 minutes it will shut off the screen, it wont turn off the ipod just put it to sleep. Hit the home button or power button and the screen will come on again. cpr_hrrs
