Has any one ever qualified for a 0% auto loan? And if you did, what was your credit score? How many years was your auto financed? 36, 48, 60, or 72 months?

Thanks.

How does auto insurance work when you “loan” your car to another?

I have been thinking of “loaning” my car (which I own) to my 87 year old father. I would then lease a vehicle for myself. Then at the end of the lease period (let’s say 3 years) if he is no longer driving, the car returns to me. Can he purchase auto insurance on himself and the car or does it fall upon me and my policy? My father has an excellent driving record and so do I.

How much does your credit score increase when you pay off an auto loan?

elmdee asked:

The last time I viewed my credit report, it did not have my auto loan as paid off. I had paid it off about a week before my credit report was pulled. Does anyone know how much that will increase my credit score? My FICO score was 545 and I am wondering if it will increase significant enough to be considered for a home loan. I know the score is pretty low, but you never know with the housing market today.

What is the bare minimum for full coverage auto insurance?

Inquisitor asked:

I live in Idaho. I have not yet payed off the auto loan so I’m required to have full coverage insurance. According to some people I am paying too much (about 700 for 6 months), as they are paying far less. I have geico, but from time to time I look around and get quotes, and it is always slightly higher than what I have now. However, that might be because I am opting for coverage I might not need.

So the question boils down to, what is the bare minimum requirements for “full coverage” auto insurance in Idaho?

Natalee W asked:

I’ve had my car for 2 years now and its been set on auto draft since day one so its always been paid on time without an issue. How much does this raise my credit score? I also have a small credit card that has also been paid on time for 2 years now. I’ve always paid at least 5 times the minimum payment, never been over my limit, and always pay at least 2 weeks early. How much can this boost my credit score?

Is auto loans tax deductible, if it is made home lien?

Hi All,

Apologies for asking the answer for resolved questions. From the answers it is clear that personal auto loan is not tax deductible. I live in California and I own a home. My credit union says, If I pay $200, then they can make my auto loan as home lien, which will make my auto loan tax deductible.

Is it legitimate to do so, or is my credit union doing something fishy? I am kind of concerned after seeing the earlier answers.
