What are the world’s biggest auto parts superstores/hypermarkets?

In the US, there are superstores for home items, such as Home Depot and Lowes. There are general merchandise superstores, such as WalMart and Sam’s Club. In Turkey, there is Koctas. My question is whether there are any superstores – ANYWHERE in the world – which are dedicated to auto parts. Not to selling cars, but to selling parts and accessories. I am not talking about a small or medium store, but a massive big box just for car and truck parts. And maybe service, too. Thanks.

    Pepboys is arguably the biggest auto parts and service chain in the US. Some people might consider them a superstore. Howard L

    Napa, auto zone, car quest, oreily’s, bumper to bumper, we also have magazines you can order auto parts from(or go online) like Jegs, JcWhitney, LMC, Some of the parts stores have shops, otherwise we have plenty of good mechanics here in the US.     AutoBacs – a Japanese Chain runs the largest Automotive Super Stores. These are automotive department stores and they are starting to move into the North American Market. In Japan they run a racing series and have even commissioned their own car ( AUTOBACS Garaiya ) that they sell in their stores. Rapid Fire

    Big stores make sense for Home Depot and Lowes because they have more space to give customers more choices. Instead of five faucets, Home Depot can display thirty faucets. All the faucets use the same plumbing connections so a customer might be interested in almost all thirty faucets.

    Unlike faucets, most auto parts and even many auto accessories only fit specific cars and truck models. If there was a giant auto parts store with all the available brake rotors, water pumps, timing belts, pick-up bed liners, etc. on display, then customers would still only be interested in the handful of parts that fit their specific vehicle.

    The big chain auto parts stores have relatively small store fronts stocking some generic products like wax and oil and some common part numbers, but most of their parts are stocked at regional warehouses. Instead of having ten Superstores all stocking the alternator for a 1995 VW Jetta, have twenty little store fronts that can get the alternator from the warehouse if the ‘95 Jetta owner ever comes into their store front.

    The other alternative is save the trip to the store front and give customers direct access to the parts in the regional warehouse online or via a paper catalog like Summit Racing, RockAuto.com, JCWhitney, etc. do. idaho98076
