What is the max horsepower that you can put on an auto transmission?

Depends on the transmission. A Muncie M22 is better than a 350 turbo and can handle more torque and horsepower. The way its made is more of a variable than if its automatic or manual. Super LS6
There are some GM powerglide automatics that are taking 1500+HP.
These are not stock at all but they are doing it and doing well….. clark
